Is Sugar Actually Bad for You?

Today, we will cover the controversial topic: is sugar actually bad for you? The answer is not as straight forward as you may think, which is why we have created this article to hopefully shed some light on the topic. While we all know sugar isn’t exactly a healthy food option, is it safe to just completely cut it from your diet? The topic is very confusing, and there is a lot of misinformation out there, which we are here to clear up today. Let’s find out if a spoonful of sugar will really help the medicine go down, or if too much will lead to health frowns.

When we consume too much sugar, it can lead to a variety of health issues. These include:

  • Excessive weight gain
  • Acne breakouts
  • Increased mood swings
  • Higher cravings
  • Inflammation
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Increased risk of heart-related issues
  • Diabetes
  • Cavities

These are just some of the many symptoms that overconsumption of sugar can lead to. However, not consuming enough sugar can also cause a range of health problems. These include:

  • Increased fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Feeling shaky and trembling
  • Blurred vision
  • Palpitations
  • Sweating
  • Seizures
  • Effects on mental health and well-being

Eating too much sugar is bad for you, but not eating enough can be just as bad too, so how do we find a balance? The key to this is through moderation. Enjoying a sweet treat every now and then is perfectly okay. You should try to limit your intake of sugar, but do not cut it off completely, as that is when it can become problematic.

Sugar-free alternatives are a great substitute for sweet, sugary snacks, so if you are anything like us and often have a sweet tooth and a constant craving for all sugary things, we highly recommend them.

If you are going to take anything away from this article, let it be that moderation is key. Moderate your sugar intake, and remember to not overindulge or underindulge in sugary treats.
