Okay so we may a little ahead of ourselves but we just love the sun! As soon as the weather gets that little bit warmer and we have to put our shades on when we pop out for our lunch, we get a lil’ giddy. Shorts and tee shirt weather is a while off yet, but we can’t help but get excited. It’s tempting to indulge in ice creams and milkshakes but they are just so full of calories and fat, it’s not all that wise. We’re not saying don’t treat yourself, because everyone needs a treat here and there but it’s better for you if you chow down on fruits and raw veggies, and drink plenty of iced water.
Cherries, blueberries, watermelon and raspberries are all great, because they are packed full of antioxidants and watermelon especially is full of water – hence the name – so it keeps you super hydrated. Blueberries are great for breakfast with raspberries, which are a good source of natural fibre. Tomatoes too, with a little salt and served at room temperature are such a great snack. Corn too, as well as being fresh and juicy is packed with antioxidants. Courgette, whilst being a vegetable rather than a fruit, is good for you too in summer, grilled with other fresh veggies on a BBQ.
Make sure you keep hydrated with plenty of water, and remember to keep in the shade during the hottest times of the day whilst you tuck into your yummy fruit salad!
