Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This Part Two

One huge thing that could keep you awake at night is residual or ongoing stress. If there’s something in your life that is causing you stress then the most important thing you can do and should do is address it head on. It’s really hard to admit there’s a problem, no matter how big or small but it can have major knock on affects in your life. We all find ourselves worrying at night, that’s when things seem to creep in and worry us the most but when it keeps you awake there’s a problem and it needs dealing with.
Sometimes the stress is short lived, and goes away but bigger problems obviously last longer. Talking with someone helps, especially if you’re feeling like you’re being irrational. We’re not saying you need professional help, of course not, we’re simply saying it’s good to talk your worries over. You might be surprised how easy it is to drift off afterward. It might also be something like going over your finances with someone or your daily schedule to see if there is anything that can be changed or tweaked that makes your load easier to manage, which in turn will definitely help you drift off into a peaceful night’s sleep.
Time management is a big part of it too. If you always feel rushed or as though you can never relax due to a packed work timetable, chances are you feel anxious a lot in case there’s anything you’ve forgotten to do for a client or an email you didn’t send on time. This has an impact on the rest of your life because it seems there’s just no time to do anything and you’re up at night worrying how you’re supposed to fit everything in. If this sounds like you, maybe it’s time to speak to your boss or see if there’s a way to reduce your workload for a few weeks until you get back on track.
Debt keeps more people awake at night than you probably think. As much as one in eight Brits are finding that their debts keep them awake at night. You worry about the next red letter coming through the letterbox, the next time someone turns up unannounced, the next time you leave your house, all sorts of things related to owing money. There are lots of charities and organizations out there who can help you if you have money worries, and hopefully you’ll soon be on your way to a restful sleep.
The bottom line is, sleep is crucial. It allows us to rejuvenate, process what we’ve learnt in the day, and gives our bodies chance to rest and be the best it can be. If we’re not sleeping, we’re not healthy. Talk to someone if you’re having worries, it doesn’t matter what you’re worrying about. Nothing is too small to warrant talking it over with someone. If the problem is big, or requires specialist advice, don’t be scared to get out there and ask for help, that’s why these companies and organizations exist. They want to help you. Don’t be scared or ashamed or embarrassed, your health matters and so do you.
