What does your skincare routine look like?

Looking after your skin is just as important as showering in the morning or protecting your hair from style damage…yet many people admit their skincare routine is practically non-existent. They will shun the moisturiser but opt for the heat protection spray whilst spending day in day out wondering why their skin doesn’t look like everyone else’s.

There are different skin types, the most common three being oily, dry and sensitive. Whichever category you fall under, your skincare routine will be unique to you.

Everyday Twice a Day

Although it may come as a surprise to some, it is advised that you wash your face twice a day; morning and night. There’s nothing worse for your skin than waking up and leaving the dirt residue you accumulated overnight to sit and multiple throughout the day. Likewise, after a long day you need to remove any bacteria build up, especially if you are a person who wears make up. It is well known that not removing make up can clogs your pores and lead to acne.

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

Keeping your skin hydrated is important to prevent it drying out and becoming sore, red and inflamed. It is important that you moisturise after washing your face as this process strips the skin of its natural oils; if we don’t replace them with a suitable moisturiser, the skin will suffer and dry patches will form. Dry patches can also cause make up to build up as the skin clings to the moisture in the foundation, leaving unsightly patches.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells in order to generate new ones and prevent build ups. It can be very tough and intense on the skin and so it is recommended to only carried it out once or twice a week. A good quality exfoliator can be purchased online fairly easily.

Now you know the basics of how to care for your skin, what are you waiting for? It’s time to say goodbye to the days of breakouts and dryness and hello to a fresh new you; most importantly, it’s time to pamper yourself!
